Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to Advocate Pakistan’s Vision of ‘Peace with Dignity and Equality’ at United Nations
New York, June 2, 2025 — Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has arrived in New York, leading a high-level parliamentary delegation to present Pakistan’s message of “peace with dignity and equality” at the United Nations. The two-day visit aims to articulate Pakistan’s stance on recent regional developments and to counter prevailing narratives at the international level.
In a video message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bilawal stated, “Today, we have reached New York, where, Inshallah, we will convey Pakistan’s message — that Pakistan seeks peace with dignity and equality at the UN.”
Emphasizing the centrality of the Kashmir issue, Bilawal asserted that sustainable peace in South Asia is unattainable without resolving the longstanding dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN resolutions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the right to self-determination of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Addressing concerns over water security, Bilawal condemned India’s alleged use of water as a weapon against Pakistan, labeling it as “unacceptable.” He highlighted violations of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) by India and pledged to bring these issues to the attention of the international community.
The Pakistani delegation is scheduled to engage with ambassadors from all 14 member states of the UN Security Council, including the five permanent members. Meetings with the UN Secretary-General, the President of the UN General Assembly, and representatives from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement are also planned.
The delegation comprises senior political figures such as Hina Rabbani Khar, Dr. Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Bushra Anjum Butt, Tehmina Janjua, and Jalil Abbas Jilani. They will also address the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) and engage with Pakistani journalists based in New York.
This diplomatic initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, countering terrorism, and advocating for the rights of oppressed communities in the region.
