PTI Announces Nationwide Movement Amidst Ongoing Political Turmoil
Islamabad, May 26, 2025 — The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared plans to initiate a “countrywide movement,” urging party members and supporters to prepare for mass mobilization. This announcement follows a six-hour discussion between PTI Senator Ali Zafar and the party’s incarcerated founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
Senator Zafar conveyed Imran Khan’s message emphasizing unity within the party: “There is no room for anyone in PTI to play both sides; everyone must stand united for the cause of truth and justice.” Khan, imprisoned for over two years on multiple convictions, including the Toshakhana and cipher cases, expressed that he is enduring hardships for the nation’s sake and expects the party leadership to be prepared for sacrifices.
Aleema Khanum, Imran Khan’s sister, also addressed the media outside Adiala Jail, reiterating the call for party readiness. She noted that while Imran Khan will not summon supporters to Islamabad due to safety concerns, he has instructed the party to prepare for a mass movement across Pakistan.
The PTI’s announcement comes amidst heightened political tensions and follows previous mass protests demanding Imran Khan’s release. Notably, a march to Islamabad on November 26, 2024, ended in confrontations between PTI supporters and security forces, leading to a retreat from the Red Zone.
