ICC Announces Schedule for 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the schedule for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, confirming India as the host nation. The tournament is set to run from February 4 to March 9, 2025, and will feature eight of the world’s top teams competing across five Indian cities.

Host Cities and Venues:
Matches will be held in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, with Eden Gardens in Kolkata set to host the final match. The opening match will be played in Chennai.

Qualified Teams:

  • India (Host)
  • Australia, England, South Africa, and New Zealand (Qualified via ICC Women’s Championship)
  • Remaining three teams will be finalized through the ongoing qualification process.

Tournament Format:
The 2025 edition will follow a round-robin format, similar to the 2017 and 2022 World Cups, where each team plays the other once. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals.

ICC Statement:
ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice stated that the 2025 Women’s World Cup would be a landmark event showcasing the growing strength of women’s cricket globally. He highlighted India’s enthusiasm and infrastructure as a major advantage for a successful tournament.

India’s Role:
This is the first time since 2013 that India will host a Women’s Cricket World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has assured full support in promoting and delivering a world-class event.
