Islamabad – June 20, 2025: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed that Pakistan has defeated India both on the battlefield and the diplomatic front, following his return from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
Speaking to media at Islamabad International Airport, Bilawal said that Pakistan’s foreign policy narrative is gaining global traction, and recent events have shown the country’s diplomatic success despite continued hostility from its eastern neighbor.
“Pakistan’s Position is Gaining Recognition”: Bilawal
Bilawal Bhutto emphasized that India’s aggressive posturing and efforts to isolate Pakistan on the global stage have failed, and the country is now being recognized as a constructive, peace-seeking state in international forums.
“Not only have we shown resilience militarily, but diplomatically, our stance is being acknowledged globally,” he remarked.
He added that Pakistan’s active participation in the SCO and bilateral engagements with key regional powers like China, Russia, and Central Asian republics have strengthened the country’s geopolitical standing.
Highlights from Bilawal’s Remarks
- Pakistan’s military deterrence and diplomatic strategy are working in parallel.
- The SCO summit offered an opportunity for Pakistan to counter Indian narratives.
- Bilawal claimed that India’s attempts to sideline Pakistan during the summit were “effectively neutralized.”
Context: SCO Summit and Regional Diplomacy
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, held this week in Astana, Kazakhstan, brought together leaders and foreign ministers from member states to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and counterterrorism. Pakistan’s active participation in SCO is part of its broader aim to integrate economically and diplomatically with regional powers.
India, also a member of SCO, has frequently used the platform to level accusations against Pakistan. However, Bilawal asserted that Pakistan’s engagement and diplomatic narrative won credibility among member nations.
Political Reactions and Public Response
Bilawal’s strong statements are likely to stir both support and criticism back home. While PPP supporters hailed his remarks as bold and patriotic, critics argue that real diplomatic success lies in sustained economic and strategic outcomes rather than rhetorical victories.
