rime Minister hopes to end reliance on IMF by unlocking Pakistan’s natural resources

Islamabad – In a bold statement during the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that Pakistan could say “goodbye” to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by tapping into its vast mineral resources.

Held in Islamabad, the two-day forum gathered representatives from countries including the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Turkey, and Finland, highlighting global interest in Pakistan’s untapped mineral potential.

“With the blessing of Almighty Allah and the support of our people, we will break free from the IMF’s financial shackles using our own natural wealth,” said the Prime Minister.

The event was attended by top-level dignitaries such as Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan. A high-level American delegation led by Eric Meyer also participated, underscoring international interest in Pakistan’s mining sector.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that unlocking the mineral sector is key to transforming Pakistan’s economy, creating jobs, and attracting massive foreign investment.

“We must convert our natural wealth into national prosperity,” he added, stressing the importance of transparency and modern technology in mineral exploration.
