PTI Rift Widens as Junaid Akbar, Gandapur Camps Trade Blame

Tensions have flared within PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wing as PTI provincial president Junaid Akbar accused Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of undermining his authority and targeting his supporters. Akbar claims development projects linked to his allies were cancelled and that Gandapur’s team is sidelining him.

In response, Gandapur’s spokesperson and CM adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif dismissed the allegations as baseless, saying: “Junaid Akbar should stop whining and stay at home.” He challenged Akbar to resign if he cannot perform, stating PTI needs a competent KP leadership.

A year ago, Imran Khan had appointed Junaid Akbar as PTI’s KP president, replacing Gandapur—then Chief Minister—citing workload concerns. Now the move appears to have triggered a deeper clash between the party’s political and administrative wings.

This feud echoes earlier internal turbulence: Gandapur had previously removed other PTI figures—including Atif Khan and Sher Ali Arbab—from party roles over similar disagreements
