Ukraine Reports Massive Russian Drone and Missile Attacks on Kyiv and Odesa

Kyiv/Odesa, June 10, 2025 — Ukraine’s military and officials report a major escalation in Russian strikes overnight, with a “massive” wave of drones and missiles hitting multiple regions, including the capital and the southern port city of Odesa.

According to Ukrainian air defence forces, Russia launched at least 315 Shahed-type drones along with seven missiles, including two North Korean-made KN-23 ballistic missiles and five Iskander-K cruise missiles. Around 277 drones and all missiles were intercepted, but several got through, damaging civilian infrastructure in Kyiv and Odesa.

In Kyiv, loud explosions shook seven of the city’s ten districts. Emergency personnel responded to fires and damage in residential zones. Kyiv’s mayor reported at least four injuries. President Zelenskiy described it as “one of the largest attacks on Kyiv in over three years.

Overnight, Odesa’s emergency medical hospital and maternity ward were struck. At least two civilians were killed, and several more wounded. Local authorities highlighted that patients and staff were evacuated safely from the maternity facility.

President Zelenskiy called for stronger global support to pressure Russia into peace, urging the United States and Europe to respond decisively. He emphasized that silence could inadvertently embolden further aggression.
