7 Things To Do Before the Jummah Prayer

Looking for a short Jummah checklist? If so, you’ve come to the right place! We understand how important it is for us, as Muslims, to follow the right Sunnahs and deen practices, especially when it comes to the Holy days like Fridays.
In this guide, we have included 7 deeds that grant you many blessings and rewards from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala - the Most Merciful!
So, let’s begin!

1- Take a Bath (Ghusl)
Taking a ghusl and purifying our bodies is a necessary part of the Jummah checklist. After all, cleanliness is half of faith.
Verily, it is said in the Qur’an:
“Indeed, Allāh loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” – (Al-Baqarah: 222)
2- Clean Your Teeth Using Miswak
Prophet Muhammad SAW recommended using miswak to maintain proper oral hygiene. Therefore, it is considered the first dental educator in oral hygiene for Muslims.
3- Wear Clean and Preferably New Clothes
The importance of wearing clean and presentable clothes when joining a congregation is highlighted in the Qur’an with the following words:
“O children of Adam, take your adornment [i.e., wear your clothing] at every masjid.” – (Al-A’raf: 31)
4- Apply Perfume (Non-Alcoholic)
Wearing perfume is also a must-follow practice for Jummah, especially considering that the Prophet Muhammad SAW made sure he always had a pleasant smell when he met people.
However, it is best if you wear non-alcoholic perfumes to steer clear of the debate and confusion about whether alcoholic perfumes can be worn during Salah or not.
5- Cut Your Nails
Trimming your nails is another good hygiene practice, and it is advised to cut your nails on a Friday since it is one of the Sunnahs of Jummah as well.
6- Recite Surah Al-Kahf
Besides conveying the message that Allah SWT protects those who stay on the right path and adhere to righteousness, Surah Al-Kahf is also filled with various virtues. That is why every Muslim should get into the habit of reciting this blessed Surah every Jummah, which is the most sacred day of the week in Islam.
7- Send Blessings Upon the Prophet Muhammad SAW
When you send Durood and salutations upon the Prophet SAW, Allah sends blessings upon you. Indeed, the rewards only increase when the deed is done on the best day of the week – Friday. Not to mention, it draws you near to the Holy Prophet on the Day of Resurrection and erases your sins.

May Allah SWT bless us all with endless happiness and guide us to the right path. Ameen.
