Three Tourists Killed in Naran After Glacier Slide Near Sohni Waterfall

Three tourists from Lahore were killed when a glacier slide buried them near Sohni Waterfall, in the Naran region of Mansehra district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday, according to Rescue 1122 officials

A spokesperson, Amir Khadam Khan, said the victims—35-year-old Mohammad Tahir, 22-year-old Mohammad Tayyab, and 13-year-old Abubakar—were taking selfies near the glacier when a sudden slide engulfed them. The group was promptly recovered and taken to a nearby hospital before being identified.

Zahid Chanze, the K-P tourism adviser, expressed condolences to the families and confirmed arrangements to safely return the bodies to Lahore. He also urged tourists to avoid risky areas and announced a provincial safety campaign emphasizing glacier awareness, noting that melting ice due to rising temperatures has increased peril in such regions.

Authorities reiterated safety warnings after the incident, highlighting Naran’s geological sensitivity and urging visitors to steer clear of unstable ice formations—especially during warmer weather when glacier stability is compromised.
