A deadly Israeli airstrike in the heart of Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp killed ten Palestinians, including six children, as they waited in line to fill water jerry cans amid a worsening humanitarian catastrophe. The victims, seeking water for their families, were struck by a missile fired from an Israeli drone—another so-called “mistake” in a brutal war that has relentlessly targeted Gaza’s most vulnerable.
The bodies of the victims were taken to al-Awda Hospital, which also treated 16 wounded, including seven children. Eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene: bloodied children, shattered plastic containers, and panic-stricken relatives desperately hauling the wounded away in donkey carts and private cars.
The Israeli military acknowledged the strike, calling it a “technical error” that caused the missile to fall meters away from its intended target. It claimed it had been targeting a militant, but civilians, once again, paid the price. This admission has sparked renewed outrage, as it follows a disturbing pattern of Israeli attacks on schools, hospitals, and humanitarian aid sites—all in the name of counter-terrorism.
As Gaza faces a collapse of basic infrastructure, with water systems destroyed and fuel supplies strangled, civilians are forced into deadly desperation just to survive. What should have been a simple task—collecting water—turned into a mass casualty event.
This strike is just one of many over the weekend. Israeli aerial bombardments across the Gaza Strip killed at least 29 other Palestinians in separate attacks on homes and aid queues. Medical staff in southern Gaza reported that most of the wounded had gunshot wounds, with survivors stating they were targeted while trying to access food and water.

According to field hospitals, the past six weeks have seen more mass casualty cases than the previous twelve months combined. The overwhelming majority of victims are civilians—many of them children—hit while seeking aid at distribution sites.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to deny journalists access to Gaza, attempting to control the narrative while the death toll rises. The UN has reported hundreds of aid-related killings since late May, most occurring near food and water distribution points guarded by foreign contractors or surrounded by Israeli troops.
Despite global condemnation and documented evidence of civilian massacres, Israel claims to “regret any harm to uninvolved civilians” while continuing its campaign. These words ring hollow to grieving families who carry the lifeless bodies of their children in their arms.
Since October 2023, over 57,000 people have been killed in Gaza—most of them women and children. More than 90% of homes have been destroyed. Fuel shortages have crippled hospitals, sanitation systems, and bakeries. Mothers give birth in darkness. Neonatal units shut down. The few ambulances that remain are unable to reach the wounded.
This latest attack, like so many before it, exposes the brutal reality of Israel’s siege: it is not targeting militants—it is systematically dismantling civilian life.
