Pakistan Accuses India of Orchestrating Khuzdar School Bus Attack; DG ISPR Labels Incident as State-Sponsored Terrorism
In a press conference held on May 23, 2025, Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, accused India of orchestrating the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan. The attack, which occurred on May 21, resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including three children, and injured over 40 others.
Key Allegations
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry asserted that the attack was not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of Indian state-sponsored terrorism aimed at destabilizing Pakistan. He claimed that India has been involved in supporting terrorist activities within Pakistan since its inception, citing previous incidents such as the 2016 arrest of Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav and the hijacking of the Jaffar Express train in March 2025.
The DG ISPR emphasized that the Khuzdar attack had no connection to Baloch identity or local grievances, stating, “The attack in Balochistan had nothing to do with the Baloch identity, rather it was just India’s provocation.”
India’s Response
India’s Ministry of External Affairs has categorically rejected Pakistan’s allegations, labeling them as “baseless” and an attempt to divert attention from Pakistan’s internal issues. The Indian government emphasized that Pakistan remains a hub for terrorism and routinely scapegoats India for its internal challenges.
International Reactions
The international community has expressed concern over the escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Observers have called for restraint and urged both countries to engage in dialogue to address their differences and prevent further escalation.
