Tragic ‘Honour’ Killing in Upper Dir: Three Lives Lost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
In a harrowing incident in Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, three individuals, including a woman and her three-year-old daughter, were killed in a suspected ‘honour’ killing. The alleged perpetrator, identified as the woman’s husband, reportedly shot a visiting herbalist outside the home before turning the weapon on his wife and child inside the residence. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Zaman Shah stated that the suspect, who had recently returned from Islamabad where he worked as a labourer, is believed to be mentally ill. The incident occurred in the Dadband area of Upper Dir.
This tragic event underscores the persistent issue of ‘honour’ killings in Pakistan. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), such incidents continue to claim lives across the country, with many cases going unreported or unprosecuted.
