Many Muslims all over the world wake up in the dark of the night to connect with Allah (SWT). Tahajjud prayers are performed after Isha and before Fajr (the mandatory morning prayer). Tahajjud means to give up sleep, which is why this prayer is preferably performed during the last third of the night.
So why are Tahajjud prayers so important? Here are a few reasons why:
Praying at night connects us with Allah (SWT) without distractions. Let's face it, this world is chaotic and we often lose track of our obligatory religious duties. Tahajjud gives us the time to connect and praise Allah (SWT) in silence without any worldly interference.
Sacrificing peaceful sleep for Allah (SWT) is highly rewarded by Him as it shows the dedicated and devotion you have toward his word. Giving up sleep is difficult and if a believer is ready to give up their sweet nightly slumber for the Almighty then the Almighty gives them their rightful reward for this noble gesture.
Those who pray Tahajjud are promised endless bounties in both worlds
As mentioned in the Holy Quran,
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِۦ نَافِلَةً لَّكَ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا
And from the night, recite it as a voluntary prayer for you, perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praised station. (Surah Isra: 79)
