Imran Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, has announced the postponement of the planned nationwide protest movement. The decision comes as the party cites “rising global tensions” and ongoing backchannel discussions with the establishment.
From his prison cell at Adiala Jail, Khan instructed PTI leadership to delay mass mobilisations and maintain preparedness. He reaffirmed his commitment to lead the movement despite being incarcerated, aiming to broaden support beyond Islamabad.
PTI Senator Ali Zafar and Asad Qaiser have been tasked with coordinating with opposition parties, including JUI-F, PkMAP, JI, and GDA, to align strategy and determine a new timeline. The postponement echoes previous PTI steps, such as halting rallies on SCO Summit eve and earlier nationwide protest plans.
Observers note that while PTI is keen to maintain political momentum, the government remains cautious. Previous mobilisations led to major unrest—including the violent May 9 incidents and November D‑Chowk protest—highlighting the risk of escalatory fallout
