Army’s Top Leadership Resolves to Eliminate Externally Sponsored Terrorism: ISPR
Rawalpindi – May 22, 2025:
Pakistan Army’s top military command reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to eliminate all externally-sponsored terrorism that seeks to disrupt national peace and stability. In a high-level meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ) chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, the forum pledged to take decisive actions to protect the country from the rising tide of militant threats.
According to an official statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the 264th Corps Commanders’ Conference reviewed the prevailing security situation across the country. The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s enemies are actively funding and supporting terrorism to destabilize the nation, but such attempts will be “crushed with full force.”
“The forum was briefed on the ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs) and measures being taken to break the nexus of terrorists and their foreign handlers,” said the ISPR.
The conference also focused on the situation along the eastern and western borders, the threat posed by separatist elements, and hybrid warfare tactics used to incite unrest in sensitive regions, particularly Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Commitment to Rule of Law and Public Safety
The Army leadership also expressed firm support for the Constitution and pledged to work with civil institutions to uphold the rule of law. “There is zero tolerance for terrorism, and Pakistan will not allow foreign actors to dictate its internal peace or governance,” the ISPR added.
Reactions and Context
Security experts have noted an uptick in terrorist incidents in recent months, particularly in border regions. Observers believe this move by the army sends a strong signal both domestically and internationally about Pakistan’s stance on counterterrorism.
Similar sentiments were echoed by the government last week when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that Pakistan’s armed forces and intelligence agencies will not allow anyone to threaten national sovereignty.
