Map Purporting Pakistan Supports US Flights Near Iran Border Is Fake

A flight-tracking map shared widely on social media claimed that Pakistan had allowed US military aircraft to fly dangerously close to sensitive sites near the Iran border. However, an investigation by Dawn’s iVerify team and Geo Fact‑Check reveals the image is entirely fabricated.

The viral post on X alleged that Pakistan was “backstabbing Iran” by facilitating US surveillance and attacks. But iVerify experts found multiple inconsistencies in the map, including geographic errors such as incorrectly placing Iran’s Chabahar port within Pakistani territory. The aircraft registration numbers shown were also traced and found to be non-existent in flight‑tracking data.

Geo Fact‑Check confirmed that Pakistan’s Foreign Office has formally denied the allegations, calling the claims “fake and baseless.” Journalist Tahir Imran Mian further noted that the map’s claims were not supported by data on FlightRadar24 or Plane Spotters, concluding the image was AI-generated.

No credible reports or official statements support the claim that Pakistan has granted US military overflight or intelligence gathering permission near the Iran border. The fact-check concludes unequivocally that the viral flight map is false
